NZ Legacy Planning Arizona Wind Turbine and Solar Energy Project

Apache County, Arizona's Planning & Zoning Commission meeting agenda on 6/04/09 details a planned NZ Legacy wind and solar energy generation facility.

Wind Turbine and Solar Energy projects are planned for Northeastern Arizona both Navajo County and Apache County.

NASA Yuma Arizona Parachute Test

On May 20, 2009 NASA and Alliant Techsystems tested a 68-foot-diameter parachute at the 1,300 square miles, U.S. Army Proving Grounds in Yuma Arizona, according to a NASA news release. The U.S. Army say the Yuma Proving Grounds is one of the largest military installations in the world. The next parachute testing is set for October 2009, and the testing will continue through 2010, says NASA.

New Video: Havasupai Flash Flood Before and After

A tourist has captured before and after videos of the August 16, 2008, Havasupai flash flooding.

To reach the attraction you must hike the 8 mile long Havasupai Trail to Supai village. The trail starts at Hualapai Hilltop. Other transportation options include: horseback, mule, or helicopter.

The Havasu Canyon area was hit with flash flooding from slow moving summer monsoon thunderstorms.

Havasu Canyon and the Supai village are located on the Havasupai Reservation adjacent next to the Grand Canyon National Park.

Sunset Point Rest Area

The popular Sunset Point Rest Area, located on Interstate 17 about 50 miles north of Phoenix, has reopened to visitors following a large renovation project.

According to the Arizona Department of Transportation, the Sunset Point Rest Area now has a brand new restrooms, two picnic area with ramadas, scenic overlook, ADOT highway workers memorial, new sidewalks, new lighting and landscaping. The parking lot has been improved handle more traffic. The rest stop now has modernized wastewater and water infrastructure, says ADOT.



On an average day, more than 3,000 cars, trucks, rv vehicles stop at the Sunset Point Rest Area. The rest area was established in 1970. The renovation project started in November 2007, a news release from the Arizona Department of Transportation says.

Google Maps: How to remove photograph of your house

One of the coolist sites on the web is Google Maps! Enter an address in Google Maps to see a street view of that location. Google Maps allows you to view photographs of city streets, businesses, private homes, and sometimes people! If you find an image with objectionable content, Google can remove it. To remove the image/photograph: just find the image. Click "Report a problem" in the bottom-left of the image window. You must then fill out the form, and then click "Submit. According to Google, That's it. Google will review your report promptly, says Google.

Tour of Downtown Buckeye Arizona

The tour starts on the edge of Buckeye passing the "welcome to Buckeye" sign, elevation 867 feet, founded 1888, passing a vet office, Buckeye feed, Pizza Hut, Sonic, a remodeled apartment building, Circle K, a Buckeye hotel, a park, gas station, trailer park, a Dollar Store, car wash, the future Buckeye Town Hall, a western store, water vending store, and the fire department.

RIP: Tucson Citizen Newspaper

According to Gannett Co., Inc, the company will stop publication of the Tucson Citizen newspaper. The Tucson Citizen will continue operating its web site, www.tucsoncitizen.com, said Gannett Co. The last print newspaper edition of the Citizen will be published on Saturday, May 16. A press release sent out today says the Citizen was founded in 1859. Starting Saturday, the paper will no longer be the oldest continuously published newspaper in Arizona.

Verde River Railroad Train Ride

The Verde Canyon Railroad’s historic four hour train ride route is from Clarkdale to the ghost ranch of Perkinsville and back.



Much of the Verde Canyon is accessible only by rail, and the 4 hours train trip travels through the North Verde River Canyon and Sycamore Wilderness Area.

The trains departure time is 1 p.m. and return approximately at 5 p.m. The Verde Canyon Railroad is located at 300 N. Broadway, Clarkdale, Arizona. Passengers should arrive early, approximately one and one-half hours prior to the departure. Phone: 800-320-0718

The train depot is located 25 minutes from Sedona, a two hour drive north of Phoenix, and one and 1 1/2 hour drive south of Flagstaff.

Show Low Bluff's Home Sales Tumble!

According to the Navajo County Recorder's website, just 5 Show Low Bluff transactions have taken place from January 1, 2009 - May 14, 2009. A deed of trust was recorded on February 25th, two different modification of a deed of trust were recorded on April 16th, a security agreement was recorded on April 22, and a quit claim deed was recorded on May 13, 2009.

Springerville Grassland WildFire

Northeastern Arizona firefighters are working to contain a grassland wildfire northwest of the town of Springerville tonight.

According to the Vernon Fire Department, the grassland fire started about 2 p.m. and has grown to 2,500 acres. The fire started along the north side of Highway 60. The cause of the wildfire is unknown. The Vernon Fire Department has 4 firefighters and 2 trucks helping to put out the blaze.

Swine Flu: Havasupai Closure Announced

According to the Havasupai Tribe: the Havasupai and Supai closure has been extended through June 1, 2009.

The action has been taken to protect the community from the possibility of a Swine Flu H1N1 outbreak, tribe says.

According to the Apache County Recorder's Office, a Concho City, Arizona developer got a loan in the amount of $565,000. Deed of Trust # 2009-001873, Reception date 03-25-2009, lists Concho West Shore Properties LLC, and Sintra Capital LLC as the Trustor. Pioneer Title Agency Inc is the Trustee. The beneficiary is River Land LLC.

BLM Coyote Buttes Wave Permit Lottery

Caught on video: Wave lottery at BLM Paria Ranger station (October 17th, 2008) a rare look at a BLM Coyote Buttes Wave Permit Lottery. A permit is required for hiking in Coyote Buttes North and South and the Wave. 10 permits are handed out by lottery each morning at the Paria BLM office.

Miami Art Works

Tour of Bison Ranch

This is a tour of Bison Ranch located in Overgaard, Arizona. We enter the 160 acre community and go by Bison Town, Bison Resort Suites Hotel, and then go by many of the nice homes, and log cabins. I noticed a few homes were for sale. Many of the neighborhood's homes have pine trees next to them. The Apache Sitgreaves National Forest is nearby.

I make quick drive down Calle Carlos street, then turn on Calle Biehn. The neighborhood is lined with one story homes. The tour goes south on Avenida del Yaqui street and pass by the Guadalupe Town Hall, Guadalupe Municipal Court, Guadalupe Senior Center, and a few houses along the street.

Fire Safe Arizona Community

Concho, Arizona, is a Northern Arizona fire safe community. In Concho Valley Unit 6 subdivision, the lots are 1.03 acres. This subdivision has raw land without pine trees. Power is located on the northern end of the subdivision. No water or sewer service. Filmed near Ranch Road and Kansas Lane. The large water tank in the background is owned by the City of St. Johns. The city also owns and maintains a well in the subdivision.

Maricopa Arizona Pyramid House

This is a Maricopa, Arizona pyramid house. The property has a large sign with "Pyramide Valley" on it. This video is dated November 2008. The property address is 2457 S. Warren Road. State Route 389 Dust Storm

A dramatic March 21, 2009, dust storms was caught on camera. The sand storm video was captured on State Route 389 between Colorado City & Fredonia, according to 86isaac's YouTube video. SR 389 is the only major east-west route between Colorado City and Fredonia.

Greer Arizona Discount Hotel Room Rates

The Greer Lodge has special discounted hotel rooms rates until Memorial Day weekend. The main lodge room prices are $99.00 Friday/Saturday nights, $69.00 Sunday/Monday nights, according to the Greer Lodge reservations department. The special ends Sunday May 17, 2009. Eleven rooms are available in the main lodge, says staff.
